Finally I decided to quit my job at Axa assistance and I handed in my notice in July. My last shift was the night on September 11th and then I took holidays. I officially left my work at the end of September.
I thought it over for a long time and I wanted to try to settle down in Senegal. I bought a bus ticket to Paris on 14th September and then a one-way ticket to Dakar on 18th September. The weather in Paris was rather cold and rainy. I met some friends there and we went for a drink and dinner. I went to a Korean restaurant at Bastille with one friend. There was a grill on the table and I ate seafood there.
I left Paris on 18th September early in the afternoon. I changed my flight in Madrid. There was a Senegalese guy at the airport who I talked to and I told him about my plans to visit Mbour.
When I arrived in Dakar I immediately noticed that the weather was sultry and very humid. I talked to a guy from Guinea and we waited for our luggage together. There was my friend Jiri who arrived in Dakar at the same time as me but with a different flight. When we took our luggage we went outside and we met Mamadou who I knew from Mauritania. We got in the car, Mamadou proposed to take us to his friend's place at Pikine but I had already arranged a stay with a couchsurfer in Socabeg. It took nearly 2 hours to get there and it was already around midnight when we got there. Socabeg is a remote part of Dakar and my host just moved in with his family. There was no running water in the house and the electricity sometimes didn't work too. On Saturday we went to the Pink Lake and the on Sunday we met Papis and we went to the Ile de Goree. It was my second time in Dakar but this time it was very different from my first trip there. It was rainy season in September and the temperature was between 30 - 35°C but the humidity was almost unbearable. I was bitten by mosquitos thousand times although I slept under a mosquito net.
We were supposed to travel to Saint Louis on Monday. We got up early in the morning and I started packing my suitcase and then I took it to the yard. There was a cesspit in the yard and when I stepped on a wooden cover it broke and I hurt my right leg badly. Jiri and my host dragged me to the clinic nearby where the doctor put anaesthesia and then she had to sew the wound, I had 6 stitches. I couldn't go to Saint Louis with Jiri and he left there with Papis. They visited a couchsurfer who agreed to host them.
I had to stay at my host until Jiri returned. I couldn't rest because my friends made me walk around Dakar, so I was limping in the city all he time. It was very frustrating because I couldn't swim anymore and I couldn't even take a bath because of the wound. I had to go to the surgery every two days to redress the wound. Once I took a ride in the cart pulled by donkey and I was a center of attention.
Jiri returned on Thursday evening and on Friday it was Tabaski which a festival of the sacrifice of the sheep. My host's wife prepared a delicious lunch for us. On Saturday we left with Papis to visit Mbour, Palmarine and Djiffer. We saw mangroves, flock of pelicans and we spent a night with a local family. It was so hot and humid there that I knew for sure that it wouldn't be possible for me to stay in Senegal. I was bitten by mosquitos so many times that I scratched my legs to blood. My mother bought me a flight ticket to Prague for the October 1st.

When we returned from Mbour to Dakar we had a funny experience in a bus. There was a girl around 6 years old who had never seen white people and she was so frightened that she screamed and tried to flee the bus. She looked glum during the journey, she didn't look at us and there were traces of tears on her face.
Jiri left Dakar on Monday. We went to the Monument de la Renaissance and the island Ngor.

I went to the center of Tuesday and Wednesday with Mamadou and Papis. We went to a market where I bought some Senegalese souvenirs and then I went to the Czech consulate to discuss some issues but the charge d'affaires didn't like the idea that I should settle down in Senegal and she advised me to return home by the first plane. The climatic conditions during the rainy season were unbearable for me. If I had found a place to stay with climatisation I would have stayed there longer but I didn't see any other solution as to go home. Also the food there was always the same, I couldn't eat rice and fish or chicken every day. My last day in Dakar we went to the Parc de Hann and then to the market and my flight was in the evening. I was so tired that I slept during all journey, I changed my flight in Brussels and I arrived in Prague around noon.
When I got home I found out that the stitches on my leg were absorbed and the wound opened. I had to be treated at the surgery, I had to go there every 2 days for some weeks. It seems to be healing well but I still can't put it under water.
I registered myself at the Bureau of Labour to be able to get some benefits and I am currently looking for a job. I don't really want to stay in Prague but I haven't figured out yet what else to do. My stay in Senegal was finished with fiasco and I don't know if I recover enough to give it another try. I need to think things over to find a solution.

My first travel this year started on Friday 17th July. I left Prague in the evening and I took a flight to Paris. My friend Thomas came to pick me up at the airport. I had a bad cold and after taking a flight I suffered from a hearing problem for one week. On Saturday we visited the center of Paris and Thomas took me to the place with food stalls at the riverbank where we had dinner. There were different kinds of food from many countries, I saw also Senegalese food there but finally we chose Asian food. The following day we left Paris early in the morning and we travelled to the Mont Saint Michel. It was a long journey and we arrived there around noon. It was a low tide when we got there.

The weather was partly sunny and partly cloudy but not really warm, it was around 20°C that day. We walked up the streets and we visited the abbey. Then we left and we went to the Saint Malo city which is a port with many ancient buildings. Afterwards we had dinner in a restaurant. We ordered oysters and mussels. We returned to Paris late at night. Thomas was free on Monday and he took me to Etretat in Upper Normandy. I had already visited it once in 2012. It was 25°C that day and some people were swimming in the sea. I swam too but I stayed in the water only for a few minutes because of my cold. Then we walked on the shore and on the cliffs, enjoying the wonderful view.

We had dinner in a restaurant nearby and we ate mussels and shrimps. Then we returned to Paris.
Thomas was busy working during the next days so I visited Paris alone and I met some old friends. It was very hot there, some days even 35°C.

I left Paris on Thursday afternoon. I bought a bus ticket to Brussels with Eurolines only for 9 Eur. I visited my Czech friend who works there for an European institution. In the evening we had dinner with her friends in an Indian restaurant. I ate shrimps and rice. My friend has to work on Friday so I visited Brussels alone but I met her for lunch and then I went to Atomium.

Then I returned to the center and I took photos. It was my second time in Brussels. I met Samba from Senegal in the evening who is a musician. We went to a fast food firstly and then we walked to the Brussels beach where we had a drink. Then we went to a bar and I returned to my friend's home late at night.
On Saturday it got much colder. I didn't bring any warm clothes with me so I had to borrow my friend's ones. She took me to an African restaurant Au soleil d'Afrique. We had a delicious food there, I ate rice, chicken and sauce. We visited the city but it was cold and rainy so we returned home and we watched a movie. I returned to Prague on Sunday.
